Role

UX Designer

Parent Lab is an early stage startup dedicated to improving parent-child relationships by helping parents build stronger parenting skills and confidence. Its core product, Hello Joey, was a mobile app that offered parenting audio courses and guided activities.

First launch scope

Redesign the core course experience around a new business model, new brand logo, and stronger learning engagement

In 2019, Parent Lab began transitioning from HelloJoey, an audio-course-only mobile app, to a new Parent Lab mobile web experience. The first phase focused on launching a lightweight responsive web version of the existing course experience, allowing current users to continue discovering and learning audio courses with minimal disruption.

The platform was designed to eventually support richer learning formats and parent support tools, such as master classes and parent journaling.

Individual course purchase

My work focused on three key areas:

Re-designed the core user experience around a new business mode

I restructured the product experience as Parent Lab shifted from a membership-based model to individual course purchases, ensuring users could discover, evaluate, and purchase courses more clearly

Update the product UI aligned with the refreshed brand

I updated the UI based on the new Parent Lab brand logo, introducing refreshed colors, graphics, and reusable UI components to create a more cohesive, polished, and scalable mobile web experience

Improve course engagement and completion rate

Parent Lab used Mixpanel to analyze user behavior across the learning journey. The data showed that HelloJoey had a high early drop-off point after the first class, with very few users continuing to start another course
